Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have epitomized modern young love since the summer of 2021—and now they are officially married.
The Stranger Things star and the son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi first met on Instagram before fostering a friendship in real life—and later, a romance. During their time together, the two have proudly and frequently cheered one another on—both on social media, via PDA-filled posts and romantic tributes, and in real life, at concerts and red-carpet events.

June 3, 2024: Millie confirms marriage with “Wifey” shorts.
A little over a week after The Sun reported that Brown and Bongiovi had secretly tied the knot, Brown subtly confirms her marriage status with a cheeky pair of jean shorts that read “Wifey” on the back.
The Stranger Things star wears the jorts for a trip to Universal Studios Resort with her hubby, which she documents on Instagram. To round out the fit, she also sports a pale yellow crop top and icy-white dad sneakers. And, in case you somehow missed the message on her shorts, she also rocks a baseball cap that says: “Wife of the party.”
May 24, 2024: They get married.
The two officially tie the knot in an intimate ceremony.
Per The Sun, their wedding is a “very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows.”
Bongiovi’s parents, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Bongiovi, are in attendance along with Brown’s parents. The newlyweds are also said to be planning another, larger ceremony for later this year.
February 29, 2024: Millie reveals how Jake proposed underwater.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Brown tells host Jimmy Fallon how Bongiovi proposed to her.
“Jake and I bonded over diving. We love diving; we got our driving licenses together,” she explains.
When they were on vacation, Bongiovi told Brown to get ready for an 8:00 a.m. dive at their go-to spot. “I was like, ‘8:00 a.m.? Dive?’ … and he’s telling me, ‘We’re going to the same spot we usually go to.’ I’m like, ‘It’s boring, let’s go somewhere new.’ He’s like, ‘No, we have to go to this spot.’ ”
During the dive, Brown recalls, “He gives me a shell and I turn it over and it’s a ring.” Though the two couldn’t speak to each other underwater, Brown re-creates Bongiovi’s excited facial expression and the bubbles surrounding him.
“Anyways, he puts the ring on my hand, and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets so fast, it was like a cinematic movie,” she continues. “Jake threw himself, like so deep, like the diver was like, ‘You can’t do that, like your ears … literally your brain will explode.’”
Bongiovi ended up catching the ring. Brown concludes, “It’s a reflection of who he is, and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back, and if anyone drops the ball, we got it.”
August 27, 2023: Millie opens up about Jake being “the one.”
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Brown recalls the moment she knew Bongiovi would have an undeniable impact on her life.
“I ran to my mum and said, ‘I really, really like him!’ After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side,” she tells the outlet. “You can’t pinpoint why [someone is ‘the one’], it’s just the feeling of knowing that that’s the person you want to spend the rest of your time with.”
She continued, “I think so much of life is overthinking. The one thing that made clear sense to me was him. So I didn’t really have to do much thinking.”
June 1, 2023: They throw an engagement party.
Hairstylist Pete Burkill shares photos of Brown and Bongiovi at what seems to be their engagement party, with the couple posing in front of a heart-shaped balloon arch enclosing a light-up sign reading: “Mr & Mrs Bongiovi.”
April 11, 2023: They get engaged.
Brown and Bongiovi confirm their engagement with similar posts on Instagram. The actor shares a black-and-white image of herself and Bongiovi at the beach, where she smiles and showcases her new diamond ring.
“I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all 🤍,” she captions the post, quoting lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “Lover.”
Bongiovi shares a carousel featuring another shot from the pair’s special evening at the beach, where he embraces his fiancée—and a second image of the two smiling while looking into each other’s eyes.
“Forever,” Bongiovi simply writes.
February 20, 2023: Jake celebrates Millie’s birthday.
Bongiovi commemorates Brown’s 19th birthday on Instagram with a carousel of the pair’s sweet moments through the year, leading with a photo of the two asleep by a pool.
“Another year around the sun together happy 19th to the girl of my dreams,” Bongiovi writes in the heartfelt caption. “I love you more than words can describe. Everything about you is golden down to the core ❤️.”
Noah Schnapp—Brown’s Stranger Things costar and best friend (and now, Bongiovi’s good pal as well)—comments on the post, “Cuties.”
January 1, 2023: They ring in the new year.
The two spend New Year’s Eve together. Bongiovi later shares an Instagram photo dump of the pair’s festive activities—the post features a car selfie, snapshots from an outing by the water, a solo shot of Brown dressed up in black velvet, and other moments.
“Love is all you need,” Bongiovi captions the carousel.
October 28, 2022: They honor each other with coordinating posts.
In September, the two share Instagram posts dedicated to one another. “Kiss on the cheek for u,” Brown captions a sweet black-and-white boomerang. On his own page, Bongiovi shares a pic of the two of them laughing and looking into each other’s eyes at a restaurant. “She’s my Rushmore max!” he writes.
And a month later, they do it again. On October 28, both share their affection for one another on Instagram with snapshots from their joint appearance at the premiere of Brown’s mystery-crime kids film Enola Holmes 2.
Brown shares a black-and-white shot of herself and Bongiovi hand in hand—and in a possible nod to Taylor Swift’s Lover track writes in the caption, “The man.”
Bongiovi shares a candid video of the two together on the red carpet. “Isn’t she lovely,” he writes alongside a red heart emoji, presumably in reference to Stevie Wonder’s romantic hit.
July 7, 2022: They vacation in Europe.
The two take a scenic trip to the Mediterranean in Sardinia, Italy, with their families. On July 12, Bongiovi shares a fun video of them riding together in a pink convertible near a cliff overlooking the water.
In a later post in August, Bongiovi shares additional photos—presumably from the same trip—from an intimate excursion with Brown in nature, featuring an affectionate photo of the two dressed up outside, as well as a shot of Brown overlooking the mountains in a bathtub.

June 19, 2022: They pack on the PDA at a Harry Styles concert.
The Harry’s House fans attend one of the artist’s concerts along his Love On Tour. Brown posts a photo from the night featuring herself and Bongiovi sharing a tight embrace and kiss.

May 14, 2022: They take the Stranger Things 4 premiere.
Brown brings Bongiovi as her plus-one to the premiere of her Netflix show’s fourth season, where the two pose together on the carpet.
May 7, 2022: Millie celebrates Jake’s birthday.
Brown commemorates Bongiovi on his 19th birthday on Instagram. “Happy birthday baby, can’t wait to fly to the moon and back with you!” she writes in the caption.
Later in the month, Bongiovi shares a sweet photo with Brown from a date night in Barcelona, where the two pose in front of the Sagrada Família. Proving his Harry Styles stan status, he captions the post, “Alexa play late night talking by Harry styles.”
March 13, 2022: They make their red-carpet debut.
In their first red-carpet outing as a couple, the two attend the British Academy Film Awards, where they are all smiles together in coordinating black looks.
February 19, 2022: They cosplay on Millie’s birthday.
The pair dress up as Barbie and Ken for Brown’s 18th birthday. “Happy birthday barbie ily <3,” Bongiovi later writes on Instagram.
December 14, 2021: They spend their first holiday season together.
The pair visit New York City’s Rockefeller Center for their first holiday as a couple. Bongiovi shares a photo of them masked up in front of the famous Christmas tree.
On Christmas Day, Bongiovi gifts Brown a vinyl of Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour album—which the actor soon puts to good use. “I love ‘1 Step Forward 3 Steps Back.’ It makes me wanna cry every time,” Brown says of one of the album’s tracks in a January 2022 interview with Seventeen. “I think my boyfriend’s gonna kill me if I listen to it around him anymore.”
November 1, 2021: They go Instagram-official.
Following months of romance rumors, Brown confirms their dating status with a blurry pic of the two sharing a tight embrace on a private ride in an empty pod around the London Eye.
In a softer launch on the platform from the same day, Bongiovi shares a pic of himself and Brown out to tea, and simply captions the post, “We’re starting a band send name ideas.”
Summer 2021: They meet online.
Brown and Bongiovi first meet over Instagram. The actor reveals the news much later, in a November 2022 Wired YouTube segment, where she answers Google’s most-searched questions about her, including how she and her boyfriend first met. “We were friends for a bit,” Brown says, “and then, what can I say?”
Despite the budding romance rumors that pop up around this time, the two for a while still publicly claim to be “just friends”—or, per Bongiovi, “Bff.” (Later in the month, however, the romance is seemingly confirmed after the two are photographed holding hands in New York City.)
