Karlach Origin Character Details

Karlach is an Origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3. Origin characters are playable heroes who have their own stories, desires, and attitudes toward the world. You can play as Karlach to live out her story, or you can choose to create a custom character and recruit her as a companion instead.

Where to Find Karlach

The fieryKarlachcan be found in a Chapter 1 Quest, which is located on The Risen Road, in the northern part of the map at X:110, Y:499.

Karlach Companion Quest

Every companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to have a personal quest that develops their character along a unique storyline. Companion Quests are often an opportunity for custom characters to build a relationship with the companion depending on their choices and reactions. Progression often occurs at the campsite but can still take place in the outside world too.

Karlach Character Sheet

At character creation, Karlach has the following starting Ability Points (stats):

These ability points are set by default when you select Karlach. You may choose to instead customize the distribution of 27 ability points to adjust her stats. If you change your mind, you can always select ‘Use Recommended’ to revert back to the recommended values for her class.

Karlach’s Proficiencies

If you are Proficient in a Skill, you add a bonus to those skill checks, making you more likely to succeed.

Karlach has the following skill proficiencies:

• Animal Handling
• Athletics
• Intimidation
• Perception

At character creation, you have the option to edit your two skill proficiencies from the list below. You cannot choose a skill that already has proficiency from your Background or Race.

• Nature
• Animal Handling
• Perception
• Intimidation

Additionally, Karlach has the following Weapon and Armour Proficiencies:

• Simple Weapons
• Martial Weapons
• Light Armour
• Medium Armour
• Shields

Karlach’s Race Features

“Descended from devils of the Nine Hells, tieflings face constant suspicion in Faerûn. Thankfully, their arcane abilities make them natural survivors.”

Karlach is a Tiefling. You cannot change Karlach’s race or subrace at character creation.

This race has specific features, including:

• Base Racial Speed: You can move 9m per turn.
• Darkvision: Can see in the dark up to 12m.
• Hellish Resistance: You have resistance to Fire damage, taking only half damage from it.

In addition to Tiefling race features, the Zariel Tiefling has the following subrace feature:

• Thaumaturgy (Cantrip): Gain Advantage on Intimidation and Performance Checks.

Karlach’s Class Features

“The strong embrace the wild that hides inside - keen instincts, primal physicality, and most of all, an unbridled, unquenchable rage.”

Karlach is a Barbarian. You cannot change Karlach’s class at character creation.

As a Barbarian, you gain the following class features:

• Rage: While Raging, you are stronger, and you deal 2 extra damage with melee and improvised weapons, and when throwing objects. You have Resistance to physical damage, and Advantage on Strength Checks and Saving Throws.
• Unarmoured Defence: While not wearing armour, you add your Constitution Modifier to your Armour Class. Wearing Heavy Armour impedes your Rage.

Karlach’s Background

• Outlander: You grew up in the wilds, learning to survive far from the comforts of civilisation. Surviving unusual hazards of the wild will enhance your prowess and understanding.

You cannot change Karlach’s background at character creation.
