Do pro shops clean bowling balls? ›

Many pro shops have machines that are especially designed for bowling balls called Rejuvenator or Reviver. These machines use rollers to rotate the bowling ball at a set temperature for a specific period of time and literally bake the oil out of the ball.

Some experts recommend against using harsh chemical cleaners like Windex, but regardless of what you use, you do not want to let the cleaner soak into the ball for too long. It's also important not to get liquid inside the ball, so tape up the holes if needed using waterproof tape.

In general, the rule of thumb for choosing a weight for your bowling ball is to go with one that is about 10% of your body weight. Since the highest weight is usually 16 pounds, any person that weighs over 160 pounds should look towards a 16-pound ball.

The location of the holes to be drilled in relation to the position of the core is what makes the ball react in different ways. We position the core by deciding what distances we want to place the bowling ball's pin, cg, and mass bias from the bowler's positive axis point.

After every use: Each time you bowl, you should be cleaning your coverstock with ball cleaner to reduce oil absorption. After ten games: Re-polish shiny bowling balls or scuff balls with sanded coverstock. After 30 games: Clean the ball with liquid dish detergent.

Get the most out of its performance: Cleaning the dirt and oil off of your ball regularly will help keep the coverstock fresh and have your ball performing at its best. It's important to wipe down your ball in between every shot to minimize the amount of oil that soaks into your ball's cover.
